PROJECT DANCE CALGARY

Returning 2020

This three day event gathers professional, pre-professional and aspiring dancers for training, performances and networking. The weekend is centered around an all day open air dance concert that is free to the public featuring local and international dance artistry in ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop and tap.  Dancers gather with a common vision:  to bring hope and healing through the universal language of dance.  In 2018 Project Dance will present concerts in Houston, New York City, Orlando, Greenville, Oklahoma City, Costa Rica, Taiwan, Paris, Lima and Calgary.

Producer: Ainsley Sudds

From Calgary Alberta Canada, Ainsley Sudds has studied dance for over 25 years. Ainsley holds a BA in Contemporary Dance from the University of Calgary, collaborative with Kinesiology and Fine Arts, as well as MA Dance Technique Pedagogy from Middlesex University, London England. She held the position of Artistic Director for Corps Bara Dance Theatre’s Youth Company for six years and danced with Corps Bara’s Project Company for over 10 years. Currently, Ainsley is a director and dance instructor at Crossings Dance (Calgary); is on the modern dance faculty at the School of Alberta Ballet; is a modern dance instructor for the Decidedly Jazz Danceworks Pre-professional program; and guest teaches throughout the Calgary dance community.

Having studied the classic modern dance technique, Limón, extensively through completing the Limon Institute of New York Professional Studies Program, and both Level One and Advanced Level of the Limon Workshop for Teachers, Ainsley’s teaching is greatly influenced by the principles and philosophies of this technique. Most recently, Ainsley attended the Peggy Baker Dance Educators Seminar in Toronto, Canada.

Ainsley has been involved in Project Dance New York City for years and is excited to bring Project Dance back to Canada (Calgary, Alberta) this July 2018.
